Chapter 428 I’ll Help You Get Ziana

Chapter 428 I’ll Help You Get Ziana

Edison spoke slowly, “It’s not wrong to say that I want to capitalize on the moment. all I know is that opportunity waits for no one. If I seize it, Ziana will be mine.”

Princess Lia looked at his determined expression and grew serious.

She sat down in a chair and pondered for a moment before declaring loudly, “I don’t agree.”

“I’ll go anyway!” Edison had already anticipated her response and remained calm.

He told his mother coolly, “If you don’t want to lose your only son, let me out!”

“What do you mean?” Princess Lia was taken aback before reacting with extreme anger. “Are you threatening me with suicide?”

Edison didn’t speak but simply smiled at her.

“Unbelievable!” Princess Lia exclaimed with quivering lips, still processing the information, “It’s absolutely insane! Ziana has no feelings for you whatsoever…”

“Feelings are cultivated.” Edison interjected with a raised eyebrow and calmly stated, “Didn’t you tell me that? Moreover, it was you who chose Ziana in the first place. You urged me to approach her, to pursue her ardently. Why are you suddenly changing your tune?”

Five years ago, Princess Lia and Mr. Collins had conspired to orchestrate a kidnapping case.

They had aimed to create an opportunity for Edison to become a hero by saving a damsel in distress, to introduce him to Ziana, and ideally, to make him her boyfriend.

Unfortunately, Boris had been an unforeseen complication in their plan.

Edison had no choice but to save them both.

Although being merely a lifesaver was not as prestigious as being Ziana’s boyfriend, the Scott family had shown their gratitude through generosity.

This helped Edison gain recognition in the Western Royalty over the past five years.

“Five years ago, I was supposed to be her boyfriend. But because of Boris, I lost five years with her – five years wasted. Now that something has happened to Boris, and he’s lying in bed like a vegetable, I won’t let this opportunity slip away again.” Edison clenched his fists and declared, “If I can marry Ziana, it will be more advantageous than marrying Winifred.”

Princess Lia rested her forehead on her hand, sighing heavily. “Of course, I know that Ziana is the best option. However, last time you were on the island, you had a fallout with her.”

“It’s all Winifred’s fault. If she hadn’t come along, Ziana would have been willing to give it a shot with me,” Edison said through gritted teeth, barely controlling his anger. “Isn’t Winifred supposed to be keeping filial piety in the countryside? How did she find out?”

“I heard that Princess Catherine was on a trip there and ran into her,” Princess Lia replied.

“Catherine is probably worried that I’ll become the Scott family’s son-in-law and steal her position as heir.” Edison’s fingers creaked as he clenched them tightly.

Looking at him intently, Princess Lia spoke earnestly. “Since you’re aware of this, you shouldn’t have gone to Ziana. Winifred went crazy after she returned from that island. Duke Bourne insists on letting you marry her. If you refuse to get engaged today, they might target us tomorrow.

“We can’t afford to bear those consequences. Think about it. Winifred is someone we can handle, but can we really control Ziana?

“What if you did pursue her? Can you guarantee that she would accept you?”

Undeterred, Edison insisted, “What if? What if she did accept me? Don’t women easily fall for the man who stands by them during their darkest moments?”

“Whom does she truly love? Do you not know?” Princess Lia couldn’t help but challenge him, “She’s only weak and despondent because of Boris. Does she have any space in her heart for you?”

Edison’s eyes blazed with anger. “But Boris hurt her.”

Princess Lia shook her head, saying gloomily, “You still don’t understand women.”

Edison’s mind reeled.

Princess Lia decided to give him a dose of reality despite his angry look. “I’m not trying to dampen your spirits, but Ziana is unlikely to accept you. I won’t let you take that risk.

“If you go to her now, you’ll gain neither the strength of the Scott family nor the support of Duke Bourne. You’ll lose on both fronts. People will laugh at you, and Princess Catherine will join forces with others to suppress you. Do you want to relive the days when you were bullied by others?”

Edison clutched his head in agony, unable to decide.

Princess Lia pressed on. “Furthermore, the Scott family hasn’t given up on investigating what happened five years ago. Mr. Collins told me that someone has already gone to Galia to investigate him. Fortunately, he was prepared and wasn’t discovered.”

Edison looked up in shock. “Has the Scott family found Mr. Collins?”

“Yeah. They still suspect you. If you rush in now, it will only make them more suspicious. If they find out something, you will be done with Ziana. If they accuse us, your position will be in jeopardy!”

Edison paled at the thought.

He felt torn and helpless, but reality forced him to face the truth.

Princess Lia knew him best and could see that her words had hit home.

She sighed. “Ziana may be a good match, but you can’t tame her. Think about it and get ready for your engagement.”

Edison was too heartbroken to speak.

He slumped in his chair with a vacant expression, as if his soul had been ripped from his body.

Having said all she needed to say, Princess Lia rose to leave.

Just then, the phone rang.

It was Mr. Collins calling.

Princess Lia sat down again and answered the phone. As she spoke, she also mentioned the quarrel with Edison just now.

Unexpectedly, Mr. Collins laughed and said, “He still wants Ziana?” novelbin

Princess Lia huffed with disappointment, “Yes! Help me persuade him!”

“Why? I called today because of his and Ziana’s affairs,” Mr. Collins said shrewdly.

Princess Lia was puzzled and said hesitantly, “Mr. Collins…”

“Put him on the phone, and I’ll talk to him.”

Princess Lia frowned deeply, but since she relied on Mr. Collins, she naturally did not dare to defy him.

She handed the phone to Edison. Edison glanced at the caller ID and answered in a depressed mood, “Mr. Collins.”

“I will help you get Ziana.” Mr. Collins’ words hit home, “But you have to listen to my arrangement.”

Edison’s eyes lit up instantly. “Sure.”

In the Scott family’s villa in Japera City.

Nell stood respectfully in front of the sofa and said to Ziana who was holding Ewen, “Mrs. Lewis, the video editing is finished.”

“Lillian,” Ziana called out to the maid, “take Ewen to play for a while.”

Lillian quickly came over and took Ewen away.

She then said to Nell, “Come with me to the study.”

The two entered the study room, and Nell played the edited video.

Half an hour later.

Ziana snapped her fingers. “Well done. Send it to the police station.”

Sean had been flaunting his power for too long. It was time to end the farce./
