The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 967

Chapter 967

Daniel sat at the breakfast table, delicately sipping his milk like a little gentleman.

“Morning, Mommy.” Daniel greeted Brittany with a cheery smile.

“Morning, sweetie.”

Brittany planted a kiss on her son’s cheek before turning to Charles. “Still feeling rough?”

Charles, still a bit dizzy, asked, “Is this your son?”

“Daniel, say hi to Uncle Charles.”

“No, call me by my name.” Charles waved the hand dismissively. “Does your kid have, like, a brain problem or something?”

Brittany frowned slightly.

“He’s been up since dawn working on math, and they’re tough ones.”

Brittany had initially thought Charles was alluding to a more serious issue, but was this it? “He really enjoys math.” novelbin

“People actually enjoy that stuff?” Charles questioned his life choices. “And he’s a whiz at Go too. Did you teach him that?”

“No, Grace used to play, and I picked it up from playing with her,” Daniel replied proudly.

Charles let out a dramatic groan and collapsed onto the couch.

Was he really just a kid?

Brittany knew Daniel was smart and pinched his nose playfully. “Hurry up and eat. The school bus will be here soon.”

After breakfast, Daniel kissed Brittany goodbye. “See you tonight, Mommy.”

He then glanced at Charles. “See you next time, Charles.”

Charles closed the eyes in defeat.

Once Daniel was gone, Charles bolted upright as if resurrected. “Brittany, please tell me, how old is your son?”

“Six.”

Brittany ladled some oatmeal into a bowl for Charles. “Here, have some to warm up your stomach.”

Charles looked like she’d seen a ghost. After a few spoonfuls, she couldn’t take it anymore. She caught a whiff of her own scent almost sour, and wrinkled her nose in disgust. “I need a shower.”

“Sure, I’ll have someone bring you some clothes.”

With Brittany needing to head off to work, she arranged for clothes to be delivered before leaving.

Alone in the villa, Charles took a shower, then closed the door behind and left the Bay Community.

Returning to the Clinton residence, Charles was greeted by the familiar sound of her father’s fury and her mother’s tears. This chaos had been a part of her life since childhood- a father obsessed with having a son, a mother weakened by repeated childbirth, and herself, the unwanted daughter.

Charles hurried upstairs, and managed to catch a bit more sleep.

After some time, Doris knocked on her door, eyes red. “Charles, where were you last night?”

Charles leaned on the door frame. “At a bar.”

Doris frowned. “Charles, how can you, as a young lady, go to such places?”

“Mom, I’m a man.” Charles scoffed.

Was she only now remembering her daughter’s true gender?

Why hadn’t she remembered back then, when she had been forced to dress as a boy since childhood, had her ID changed to male, and lived for years compelled to live as a man?

Doris’s expression froze. “Charles, I’m sorry for everything. From now on, you can be yourself. Your father…he…”

“He’s got a son on the side now?”

Charles mocked, but Doris fell silent.

It seemed she had hit the mark.

Charles was at a loss for words. “So what now? Do I announce that I’m a girl and marry off to a good family to stop competing with his precious son for the Clinton fortune?”

Doris looked helpless in the face of her daughter’s sarcasm, exhaling deeply. “Your father said he’ll set you up with enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life.”

“Ha,” Charles laughed bitterly, “And you’re okay with him keeping a mistress?”

“He said he’ll bring the child home for me to raise.”

Doris was clearly embarrassed. “Charles, you know I can’t leave your father. Please, listen to me. Don’t fight with hirn, and don’t compete with your brother,”

Charles had thrived in the Clinton family despite everything. It wasn’t because Doris didn’t love her daughter, but as a woman, how could she inherit the Clinton legacy?

The irony was painful.

Charles slammed the door shut, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face
