Yolanda was about to make a dash for it when Cassius reached out again to grab her shoulder.
She had finally snagged a chance that Jenny was also counting on, and she was worried about making a bad impression on Director Harriet if she was late.
Totally losing her cool, Yolanda spun around, grabbed Cassius by the collar, tiptoed, and threatened him
with a smile.
“Cassius, if you keep yapping, I’m gonna plant one on you!”
To a drama queen like Cassius, Yolanda figured this kind of threat would do the trick.
Sure enough, Cassius tensed up in an instant and clammed up.
“Scared ya, huh? There, there, I won’t touch you.”
Yolanda thought this guy must either swing the other way or have a mild case of gynophobia.
Seeing his scaredy–cat face, she couldn’t help but chuckle. She ran her thumb across her lips, then quickly dabbed it onto the corner of Cassius‘ mouth.
Cassius froze. Seizing the moment before he could react, Yolanda bolted.
When Cassius finally snapped out of it, he touched his mouth, his thumb picking up a smear of bright lipstick.
Sickly sweet and, damn it, strawberry–flavored.
Hot Chili didn’t have a clue – totally wrong lipstick choice.
“Are you in heat or did you get mauled?”
Remington stepped out for a smoke and caught sight of Cassius standing against the wall, clothes disheveled and with a lipstick mark on his face, looking all sorts of weird.
Cassius looked up, awkwardly straightening his clothes.
“Like I’d ever get hot for a chick like Yolanda. Don’t talk nonsense, Remi!”
Guilty as charged without even being accused.
Remington, twirling a cigarette between his elegant fingers, seemed surprised and asked.
“What’s Yolanda doing here?”
With Yolanda being tight with Lizetta, she didn’t go to see her off at the airport?
“That chick? She’s here boozing it up with Jenny! She thinks she can just waltz into showbiz, what a silly girl! Remi, I gotta go.”
Cassius was in a rush to check if that silly Yolanda had already gotten sloshed and taken advantage of, but he stopped mid–sentence as he noticed Remington’s sudden change of demeanor, an icy, stifling aura enveloping him.
“Who did you just mention?”
Remington stepped closer, pressing Cassius with a grave tone.

Remington looked serious as hell, the cigarette in his fingers crushed into bits and falling.
“Did that dumb Yolanda cross you?”
“Not her, the other one you mentioned.” Remington’s voice was heavy.
“Jenny? She’s just a minor celeb, you probably don’t know her.”
“Lead the way!”
Before Cassius could finish, Remington cut him off with a commanding tone.
When Yolanda arrived at the private room, Jenny was already drinking with Director Harriet, Jenny signaled to Yolanda with her eyes.
“Yoli, you’re just in time for a treat. Director Harriet brought some of his private stash. You’re late, so down three as a penalty!”
Yolanda approached with a smile, taking the glass.
“Looks like I’m in luck then. Here’s to you, Director Harriet.”
She tipped back three drinks in quick succession,
Director Harriet was pleased, for the supporting actress role.”
“th and sweet, what a drink!”
at Jenny, “That’s the spirit! Jenny, you did good recommending her
Jenny quickly added, “Let’s both have another toast to Director Harriet, come on.”
As the door to the private room swung open, Jennu
and Yolanda were just finishing their drinks in one
gulp. Yolanda turned to see Remington walking in.
His gaze was piercing, fixated on Jenny.
Yolanda’s smile froze instantly as Remington approached Jenny.
His presence was overpowering, silencing the room in an instant.
Jenny, slow to grasp the situation, was met with Remington’s pressing and grave question.
“Ms. Abott, weren’t you pregnant? Since when can expectant mothers drink? Are you playing a pregnant woman in your next role?”
Yolanda’s heart skipped a beat as the word flashed through her mind.
Busted!
Remington, with his sharp wits, must have figured out Lizetta was pregnant. There was no keeping it a
secret now!
She could only wonder if Lizetta had caught her flight.
